$39.88

Makie combs and other hair accessories are precious artifacts that one can sit and peruse for quite a while. Their delicateness and complexity and depth are amazing. Makie refers to a series of lacquer techniques used for decorating many types of artifacts, from hair accessories, to small pieces of furniture, it is painstaking highly detailed work and the tradition is dying out rapidly. Nowadays not many can master the techniques to a level the craftsmen of yesteryear did.

The deeper you look, the more you discover. The wrap-around effect on the outer edge is also bold and shows no detail was overlooked. It seems different metals were also used to get different metallic effects.
